Bernard Pollard – Safety

While it is possible that the Chiefs may need to invest in a safety for depth, I don’t think a Bernard Pollard reunion is the best way to fill it. Once a key part to the dominating Ravens’ defense that won the 2012 Super Bowl, Pollard’s playmaking ability as a safety has slowly started to decline.

The KC Chiefs would probably have better luck looking for more of a low-risk safety to pick up just in case Berry isn’t cleared to play for some time next season.

At 30 years old, Pollard would only get a one or two year deal with another team. The big fact that deters me from wanting him to come back to Kansas City is the fact that he is penalty prone. He has a bad habit of lowering his head before collision which draws the flag almost immediately. The last thing we need on our defense is someone who gives away chunks of yardage at a time.

Tyvon Branch – Safety

Tyvon Branch is a liability. While he was a quality safety in his earlier seasons, he has had some serious leg issues that have limited him to only five games in the past two seasons. At 28, I don’t feel that he can bounce back the way some of these younger players can.
