This was a tough decision for me. The Kansas City Chiefs have a difficult task in re signing their current center Rodney Hudson. With other suitors, according to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports, vying to make Hudson the highest paid center in the league, I’ll be shocked if the Chiefs can keep him in Kansas City.

  • The good news is that Eric Kush has been training for this precise moment. Also, if Hudson does sign elsewhere, it’ll be before the draft and the Chiefs can prepare to draft a center if need be. Enter B.J. Finney.

Not only is Finney a local guy, playing his college football at Kansas State University, but he’s just what the Chiefs need in case Hudson finds a new home. While I have confidence in Eric Kush, Finney would basically be to Kush what Kush has been to Hudson, and that could work out extremely well.

Gil Brandt, however, thinks B.J. Finney will be a first year starter in the NFL. He tweeted so last month.

I also considered going with a safety with this pick, but with the possibility of Hudson signing somewhere else, I figured I’d be kicking myself if I let a perfectly talented center get away.
