Kansas City Chiefs: Grading Jamaal Charles And The Running Backs

Anthony Sherman certainly doesn’t earn his pay by carrying the football. He earns his paycheck in a blue collar manner by protecting his quarterback, by opening holes for his Pro Bowl running back, and by making plays in special teams.
Sherman does these things well. You can’t judge fullbacks by the carries. Sherman had just two in 2014 for eights yards.
In fact, in his two seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs, he has just four carries for eleven yards.
You can’t judge fullbacks by how many passes they catch, although Sherman has provided some value in this area in his time with the KC Chiefs. In 2014, he had 10 receptions for 71 yards, and a touchdown.
In 2013, he contributed 18 catches for 155 yards, and one touchdown, according to Pro-Football.com.
He also has 24 tackles, and has forced two fumbles in his time with the Chiefs, both in 2014. These all just some areas where Sherman pitches in.
His real value, though, lies in his willingness to sacrifice personal stats in run and pass blocking. Sherman plays tough, and obviously Andy Reid and company appreciate Sherman, and how he plays with a team first attitude.
