Round 5, Pick 18
I selected a 5’11” wide receiver in the third round and now I went after 6″2′ wide receiver Ty Montgomery out of Stanford.
Montgomery brings the size and catch radius that Lockett doesn’t possess. He could be groomed as Dwayne Bowe‘s eventual replacement and could one day be the reason Bowe is expendable.
He has shown explosiveness in the quick screen game much like Demaryius Thomas is with the Denver Broncos. He is a good ball carrier after the catch and hard to bring down falling forwards for extra yardage almost every time he is tackled.
Round 6, Pick 17
Marcus Hardison is another one year wonder player that teams will have to take a gamble on after he had a great 2014 season. The Chiefs were successful in turning combine superstar Dontari Poe into one of the best defensive tackles in the league and would need to groom Hardison the same way.
Hardison doesn’t possess the same physical freak qualities that Poe did entering the league, but he has a big body at 6’3″ and 307 lbs. Hardison has shown an ability for getting after the quarterback, but also awareness getting his hands up when he can’t get to the quarterback.
"Possesses broad shoulders, long arms (33.5″) and good overall weight distribution. Good athlete for his size. Former defensive end who has a knack for rushing the passer that has remained since moving inside. Possesses impressive initial quickness off the ball, firing off the snap to penetrate gaps. Good lateral agility and flexibility to change directions and pursue. Closes quickly and with an explosive pop that can catch ballcarriers by surprise and lead to forced fumbles. Good strength for the drag-down tackle. Could be just scratching the surface of his potential. -Courtesy of Rob Rang of CBS Sports"
Hardison would provide serviceable depth behind Dontari Poe, Allen Bailey, and Mike Devito.
