Round 2, Pick 17
Denzel Perryman is almost everything you look for in an inside linebacker. He plays downhill and can perform highlight reel hits, but his aggressiveness is sometimes his weakness as he has been susceptible to getting beat by play action.
At only 5’11” and 236 lbs., Perryman is a little smaller than you would like in an inside linebacker, but never let that affect him in college. Perryman was a little slow in the 40 yard dash the the NFL Combine, running a 4.78 40. His 27 reps in the bench press were very impressive however.
Perryman is the second best inside linebacker in the draft behind Eric Kendricks and the 54th best prospect overall.
Perryman would provide solid insurance behind Derrick Johnson, and could compete for the number two inside linebacker spot next to Johnson.
While a lot of people would be upset about the Kansas City Chiefs not drafting a wide receiver in the first two rounds of the 2015 NFL Draft, they still filled two huge needs at two of their three biggest weaknesses.
