With the NFL off season in full effect, it’s time for mock drafts to pop up all over the internet. KC Kingdom has been providing 2015 NFL Mock Drafts every week, with myself and my co-editor Michael Tavis rotating who does them each week.
I handled this week’s mock draft using Fanspeak’s On the Clock feature and focused mostly on fixing the offense for the KC Chiefs. It’s not surprising really considering that the Chiefs defense was one of the best in the league, and the offense had its struggles in several different areas.
With the Kansas City Chiefs’ first round pick, I went with an offensive line prospect. The offensive line and wide receiver are the positions that need the most attention during the off-season and the Chiefs wouldn’t go wrong with taking either in the first round.
Andrus Peat would be a solid option at right tackle, as Ryan Harris didn’t perform well in 2014 and who knows what the team plans to do with Donald Stephenson. Lance Zierlein of NFL.com felt that Peat will do a decent job at right tackle in the NFL and could even play left tackle if need be.
"Big and powerful with a right tackle’s play strength and demeanor, but enough foot quickness to protect on the left side. Peat has the physical tools to be an upper-echelon run blocker with pass-protection ability, but he needs to improve his technique in order to protect with consistency. Peat has been well-coached and is one of the most game-ready offensive linemen in this year’s draft. – Zierlein’s “Bottom Line” on Andrus Peat"
I’ve been pretty vocal about the need for a wide receiver, but if Andrus Peat is available with the 18th overall pick, he might be difficult to pass up on.
