Round 6, Pick 17
The Chiefs continue to add depth on the offensive line by picking Tyrus Thompson. Thompson has shown the ability to play either tackle position, which helps when you are playing for a back up spot.
"Displayed shown improved functional strength as a senior, playing with better knee bend and patience than he had in two previous seasons as a part-time starting tackle. Thompson possesses long arms and broad frame are just as effective in the running game as they are in pass protection, and he has the ability to turn and seal defenders from the action when plays are run behind him. -Courtesy of Dane Brugler and Rob Rang of CBS Sports"
Thompson has shown an ability to continue to improve and hone his craft in his college career, and with the help of the Chiefs he could develop into a good player. His biggest weakness in college was probably his strength, but if he hits the weight room that can be improved pretty easily.
Round 7, Pick 16
Chucky Hunter is a player that could come in and help the Chiefs right away, and that is rare to find in the seventh round. Don’t expect Hunter to start right away though, but he is capable of helping in goal line packages, and on special teams.
"He moves well for the position and carries his weight like a lighter player, using his coordinated footwork and balance to work through and around a crowd to the ballcarrier. A high character player on and off the field, Hunter has a quick first step with fast hands to pack a punch at the point of attack, but is still developing his upper body technique and shed skills to better work through single blockers. -Courtesy of Dane Brugler of CBS Sports"
The uncertainty of Mike Devito’s return from his season ending injury, the Chiefs can use all the help they can get on the defensive line.
