Round 5, Pick 18
Jordan Richards isn’t a big name pick, and is not very likely to ever be a big name player, but what he does bring is leadership and much needed depth to the safety position. Richards was voted as a team captain his senior year at Stanford.

Richards played Strong Safety at Stanford, but is able to fill in at Free Safety when needed. He lacks the speed to be trusted full time at free safety, but could help in run support at strong safety.
"He has good agility and gets his hands on a lot of passes (22 PBUs over his career) but must do a better job of fighting through blocks and making reliable tackles in the open field to overcome his lack of ideal size. – Courtesy of Rob Rang of CBS Sports"
The Chiefs need to make other moves at the safety position to help fill the void left by Eric Berry, and Richards is not the short term or long term answer, he is simply a depth pick.
