#2. Tom Bettis
Following the 1-6 start in 1977 by Paul Wiggin and the KC Chiefs, Wiggin was fired and Tom Bettis was named the interim head coach. The Bettis led Chiefs team beat the Green Bay Packers 20-10 in the first game with Bettis in charge.

The Chiefs then finished the season on a six game losing streak, and finished the worst season in franchise history with a 2-12 record. The Chiefs would set a new franchise low in 2008 with a 2-14 record, and later matched that mark in 2012.
Bettis never looked like a head coach, and a day after the Chiefs final loss of the season to the Oakland Raiders, Bettis and the rest of the Chiefs coaching staff were fired. The Chiefs then hired former CFL Montreal Alouettes coach Marv Levy to be the fourth head coach in KC Chiefs history.
Tom Bettis finished his KC Chiefs head coaching career with a 1-6 record, but despite the small sample size it was clear Bettis was not head coach material, which is why he earned a place as the second worst coach in team history.
