Round 5, Pick 17

Why not grab another receiver? We all know the stat and I’m sure fans wouldn’t complain if Kansas City grabbed a few receivers in the draft (although it’s worth noting the Chiefs have 11 total picks whereas this simulation only let me pick seven times).

Austin Hill of Arizona is actually slated to go sometime in the third round, but due to an ACL injury he sustained during his college days might cause him to slide in the draft. Hill finished his college career at Arizona with 2,310 receiving yards and 17 touchdowns. His breakout year was in 2012 when he had 1,364 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns.

The Wildcats looked forward to adding to that production in 2013, but Hill went down with an ACL injury and was out for the season. Hill only had six touchdowns in 2014, but that’s six more than the Chiefs wide outs had (sorry, I had to make that joke).

"“The majority of his production, however, came out of the slot where Hill was able to physically dominate smaller cornerbacks and rarely saw press coverage. He plays with the physicality to handle it, however, and is effective as a run-blocker and after the catch due to his strength and aggression. Hill’s best attribute may be his hands and body control. He can contort his frame to adjust to poorly thrown passes and secures the ball quickly.” Rang, CBS Sports"
