The Kansas City Chiefs have several positions to fill in the upcoming 2015 NFL Draft, but have more than enough picks to fill those needs. I did a mock draft using Fanspeak’s On the Clock feature and was able to draft seven rounds as the Chiefs.

Let’s take a look at who I chose in the mock draft simulator!

Round 1, Pick 17

With all of the problems that the Kansas City offensive line had last season, this would be a fascinating choice. Brandon Scherff is considered the best offensive lineman available in the draft and the sixth best player overall so if he slipped all the way to the Chiefs, I’d be pretty surprised.

"His upper body strength, along with proper hand placement and good knee bend, make Scherff a force in the running game. Balanced with a naturally wide base and light feet, controlling his momentum well. Outstanding drive blocker with the punch to jolt and drive his man where he wants with above average hand use to attack rushers, keeping separation between him and his target. – Dane Brugler and Rob Rang of CBS Sports"

The Chiefs’ offensive line struggled immensely last year and Alex Smith spent most of the season either on the ground or running for his life. A guy like Scherff could come in and make a difference early on for one of the league’s worst offensive lines.

If Brandon Scherff is still on the board when the Kansas City Chiefs are on the clock, I think the Chiefs will be handing that card in pretty quickly. I certainly jumped at the chance to take him with the 17th overall pick.
