Kansas City Royals all-time franchise leaders in triples: 13. Jarrod Dyson

Jarrod Dyson was one of the speediest Royals ever and a fine defensive player as well.

In his last five seasons in Kansas City, Dyson legged out at least four triple, recording a career-high eight in 2016. His 29 triples made up 35 percent of his extra-base hits for the Royals!

His speed also came in handy on the basepaths. He swiped 176 bases in his career with the Royals, the sixth-highest total in franchise history. He was only caught 30 times – an incredible 85 percent success rate. Pretty good for a player who was never considered a regular starter.

He will forever be remembered as a key component to the Royals’ back-to-back World Series seasons in 2015 and 2016. His extraordinary speed would put a lot of pressure on opposing pitchers. It was fun to watch!

Dyson was a crowd favorite and he joyously proclaimed in postgame interviews, “That what speed do” whenever that speed figured into the outcome.

He was traded after the 2016 season to the Seattle Mariners for pitcher Nathan Karns.
