KC Royals All-Time Franchise Leaders In Triples
By Joel Wagler
Kansas City Royals all-time franchise leaders in triples: 3. Amos Otis
Another longtime Royals’ great comes in at number three. Amos Otis covered center field for so long during the Royals’ glory days.
Like White and McRae, Otis wasn’t a prolific triples hitter, never hitting more than nine (1970, 1974), but he never hit less than two as Royal either.
Otis was an incredible all-around player. He was named an All-Star five times as a Royal and finished in the top ten in AL MVP voting four times. He was also a three-time Gold Glove winner.
It is great to get a chance to educate younger KC Royals fans on the history of the franchise. Most people will recognize the names like George Brett and Frank White, but the Royals had so many terrific players over the years. Players like Otis, McRae, Patek, and Cowens.
Countdowns like these give us a chance to either remember these outstanding players or to learn more about them.
Amos Otis was a terrific Kansas City Royal, and we need to appreciate his accomplishments. Coming in at number three on our triples list was a terrific achievement.
