Week 8: 34-7 Win VS St. Louis Rams

Growing up in Kansas City, I was taught from a young age to hate the city on the other side of the state. I look forward to these Chiefs/Rams games every four years and was excited that the Missouri showdown would be taking place at Arrowhead this year.

The Rams had an interesting year when Sam Bradford went down before the season even started with an ACL injury. Their backup quarterback Shaun Hill also went down and that brought Austin Davis in as the starter for St. Louis. Davis threw a touchdown early in this game, but after that it was all about the Kansas City Chiefs to show which football team owns the state of Missouri.

Knile Davis had his first kick return for a touchdown in 2014 and this went on to be a big ol’ fashion blowout at Arrowhead. The Rams never beat Kansas City while they were a St. Louis team and it’s a very strong possibility that the Rams could be moving to Los Angeles very soon.

I will say this though… If the Chiefs played the Rams when Shaun Hill was the starter, this game could have looked much different. I still think Kansas City would have won, but it certainly helped the Chiefs’ case having Austin Davis out there playing for the Rams.

Week 9: 24-10 Win VS New York Jets

The Jets were a mess in 2014 so it’s no wonder Kansas City handled them with ease in week 9 of the regular season. Michael Vick got his first start of the season and while he didn’t play terribly, it wasn’t enough to overcome the surging Chiefs.

Anthony Fasano had his famous “sit down touchdown” in this game and that’s probably one of my favorite touchdowns from the season.

In all honesty, this game probably should have been a blowout, but hey… A 14 point victory is still pretty impressive. A negative note to this game is that it’s when people started noticing how badly the Chiefs run defense was. It only got worse from here, believe me.
