Week 14 of the 2014 NFL season is here, and that means it is time to take a look at those fantasy football lineups and for some leagues, set those fantasy playoff lineups.
This is my Start ‘Em/Sit ‘Em article where I try to help you make some tough lineup decisions, whether that means starting a players that normally doesn’t start for your team, or benching a player that is normally in your starting lineup. These last few weeks are paramount for all fantasy teams as either the playoffs are starting, or they start in the next week or two depending on your league.
Here are my Start ‘Em/Sit ‘Em picks from LAST week (some people in an earlier week’s article commented and told me that I was suggesting to start players that were on their bye week. This is obviously untrue. This first page of my article is simply going over my picks from last weeks article and analyzing how I did with my picks. To get to Week 14’s start/sit picks just go to the next slide of the article).
Last Week’s Start ‘Em
First off, you’re welcome. Mason had the best week of any RB in the NFL last week, getting 17 touches for 164 total yards from scrimmage and 3 touchdowns. He had a total of 33 fantasy points in standard leagues and may have been the deciding factor in a lot of games last week. If you started him, you’re very welcome (just jokin’).
Beckham is now considered a stud receiver in the NFL and especially in fantasy. After what may be one of the best catches in the history of football, people are starting to notice how good this kid is. He has been one of the best fantasy receivers over the last 6 weeks or so. In Week 14, he put up 9 fantasy points in standard leagues and wasn’t a bad start by any means.
Blount had some issues last week. He got 10 carries for 58 yards (5.8 YPC), so he didn’t have an awful week in NFL terms, but in fantasy, he didn’t get enough work to be a good start. I see that changing this week and Brady will look to him a lot more often.
Last Week’s Sit ‘Em
Jackson was a good sit. He only had 2 fantasy points in standard leagues and is just really falling out of favor in Tampa Bay as rookie Mike Evans seems to be the only receiver on the team lately. Hopefully Jackson was buried deep on your bench last week.
Matt Ryan actually had a pretty decent game against Arizona. He totaled 24 points in 6-point touchdown leagues and did a lot more than I was expecting. I wouldn’t expect this type of performance to continue for much longer, as the Falcons just aren’t what they should and could be on offense.
Overall, I did quite well last week with my picks. Take out my “Start Blount” and I had a great week. Hopefully I can repeat and help you make some tough decisions in this vital week in fantasy football for all leagues. So without further adieu, here are my Start ‘Em/Sit ‘Em picks for Week 14.
