It’s this simple; Bobby Rainey looks better than Doug Martin. Rainey has been getting carries all season along with starter Doug Martin struggling and in and out of the lineup with injuries. Rainey has shown over and over whether Martin is in or out of the lineup, that he is the better back in the Buccaneers backfield.
Rainey has been a good flex option about half of the season so far, and I think he will put up more flex-worthy numbers this week for a few reasons.
First, Martin is questionable for this week’s game with an ankle injury, and will be limited even if he does suit up.
Rainey has been a good flex option about half of the season so far, and I think he will put up more flex-worthy numbers this week for a few reasons.
Second, the Bucs go up against the Cleveland Browns, who rank 24th against running backs in terms of fantasy points allowed, so Rainey should be able to put up double digits one way or the other.
Rainey has broken ten fantasy points twice so far this season spelling Doug Martin, but in Week 9, I see Rainey getting a majority of the carries and getting past ten fantasy points again.
Consider him a good flex option for Week 9.
