THE DEFENSE

Houston is picking up exactly where he left off last season. Against the Rams, Houston had 5 solo tackles while picking up three sacks along the way. That now gives him 10, making him the NFL sacks leader for the second time this season. Houston is due for a big payday and each week he continues to show why. If he keeps this production up, we could be talking about the NFL’s defensive player of the year.. OLB. Kansas City Chiefs. JUSTIN HOUSTON. A+

RON PARKER. A. Since the switch to safety, Ron Parker has really made a positive impact for this Chiefs secondary. Yesterday, Parker had 4 solo tackles, a pass deflection, an interception, and a sack. Pretty good day for a strong safety if you ask me and he’s done a nice job in place of the injured Eric Berry. There is a reason that the Chiefs rank number one in pass defense and Parker has helped with that. Great game from him yesterday.. Safety. Kansas City Chiefs

ILB. Kansas City Chiefs. JOSH MAUGA. A. Mauga is having a very underrated year. He and James Michael Johnson have had to fill the big shoes of Derrick Johnson and Joe Mays and quite frankly, they’ve done a hell of a job. Yesterday, Mauga had 6 tackles and a pass deflection in which he jumped the route and could have had an interception. This guy has done a great job of anchoring the middle and was a big part of their win over the Rams.

A-. Bailey is what I like to call the quiet beast. This guys strength is incredible and when the Chiefs moved on to him over Tyson Jackson this season, I had a hunch he would put together a solid season. Bailey had 4 tackles yesterday with 1.5 sacks to add to it. He’s one of the best defensive lineman the Chiefs have and is putting together a career year.. DE. Kansas City Chiefs. ALLEN BAILEY

All Postions. Kansas City Chiefs. OVERALL DEFENSE. A+. The Chiefs defense allowed just 200 yards total and one touchdown while collecting 7 sacks and one interception. That’s pure domination on their part no matter what happened on the opening drive. This Kansas City defense was a big question to a lot of us coming into the season but it seems they understand who they are. This unit could be really scary, if it isn’t already.
