Kansas City Royals Might Benefit From Giants’ Luck

But what does it all mean, Basil?
The Royals won’t be making the same mistakes as their better known brethren to the east.
The Cardinals came into the postseason without much power and scratching out runs, much like the Royals. Much like the Royals, they found some heavy bats and maintained their contact hitting approach. Defensive snafus aside, this worked for them against the Giants. Since this plays into the Royals hands, it ought to work for KC too.
The Royals won’t be making the same mistakes as their better known brethren to the east. They won’t be handing the Giants games either. Do I expect another sweep? Not at all. San Francisco is too good of a team, and is too well coached, to get beat four games straight. But in these three games the SF starting pitching was far from unhittable, the bullpen had its flaws (and successes too) and it took some breaks for them to win two of the three.
Factor into that all the things Kansas City is doing well right now. They continue to play amazing defense and they got their errors in check.
The starting pitching is doing just enough to get to a well-rested shut-down bullpen. They are doing whatever it takes on offense to win games – be it the long ball, the small ball, or just making teams pitch differently by posing a threat to steal when on base.
All of this adds up to a 4-2 series victory in my mind. I think Bumgarner wins the opener, Ventura game two, KC takes 2 of 3 in SF and comes home to cap it off in game six.
