Sit ‘Em #2
In slide #2, I discussed how well I think that Emmanuel Sanders is going to do for the Broncos this week. Unfortunately, I think Sanders performance will hurt Welker’s performance in Week 7.
I see the uber-talented 49er linebacking crew keeping Welker’s “over the middle” routes in check, giving him another mediocre game.
Welker only has 11 fantasy points in standard leagues through his three games (Welker was suspended for the Broncos’ first two games), including zero last week against the Jets.
Peyton Manning has seemingly replaced Welker in the offense with Sanders and Julius Thomas, who are both getting a bunch of targets this season. Welker last week only got one target from Manning, while the other starting receivers got more and succeeded.
Someone with the talent of Wes Welker will eventually get some receptions and become relevant in fantasy football again sometime this year, but I don’t see it coming against the 49ers in Week 7. I see the uber-talented 49er linebacking crew keeping Welker’s “over the middle” routes in check, giving him another mediocre game.
Owners should look elsewhere for points this week. Consider him a decent but risky flex option for Week 7.
