Fantasy Football Start ‘Em Sit ‘Em: Week 5

Week 5 of the NFL season is here, which means it is time to set those fantasy football lineups. This is my weekly Fantasy Football Start ‘Em/Sit ‘Em article where I try to help readers make tough and bold lineup decisions by benching a player that normally starts in their lineups, or start a player that normally doesn’t make the starting lineup.
Here are my Fantasy Football Start ‘Em/Sit ‘Em picks from last week:
Start ‘Em
Hopkins played well in Week 4, scoring his third touchdown in four games. He is beginning to look like a must-start WR as he has now put up good numbers for all four games this season. He has gotten plenty of looks from new QB Ryan Fitzpatrick and he is a great trading prospect if you need a receiver to plug into your starting lineup with a smaller price tag than the bigger name guys. Hopkins ended with 12 fantasy points in standard leagues last week.
Lacy finally started scoring some points in fantasy last week against the Bears, getting into the end-zone for the first time in 2014. He finished the game with 48 yards and a TD on the ground, which is his best game to date so far by a mile (11 fantasy points). Look for him to keep getting better and better as the year progresses.
Well, Donald Brown was quite disappointing for all last week. Many had Brown as a top-15 RB because of the injuries to San Diego’s other RBs, and with his matchup against the worst defense in the league, the Jacksonville Jaguars. He struggled. He only got the ball 14 times including through the air, and ended with just 4 total fantasy points in Week 4.
Sit ‘Em
I hope you took my advice and sat Mr. Sproles in Week 4. He, like all Philadelphia Eagles, struggled against the stingy 49ers defense last week. The whole offense struggled to move the ball, and didn’t even score through 4 quarters (all points were generated from special teams and defense). He ended with ZERO fantasy points and definitely disappointed anyone who played him last week.
Okay, I may have been a week early on this one. I wanted to put owners on notice that once Jamaal Charles is 100% healthy, Davis is going to be sparingly used. In Week 4 on Monday Night Football though, this was not the case. Knile was very much involved and ended the game with more rush yards than Charles and a total of 12 fantasy points. I don’t see this happening much in the future, but I called this a bit too early.
Overall, I would say that last week was better for me than the previous week, getting a majority of these right. So here are my Start ‘Em/Sit ‘Em picks for Week 5 of the 2014 NFL season.
