2. player. 42. Week 3 Projection: Standard: 5/PPR: 8. WR. San Francisco 49ers. Michael Crabtree

Michael Crabtree is a receiver that I see having a few big weeks but a bunch of down, under-10-point performances. Most experts like him better in fantasy than I do, but I just don’t see him getting the attention that someone with his skills deserves, having other studs like Frank Gore, Anquan Boldin, and Vernon Davis taking targets away from him.

All this being said, I think he can have great weeks and should be a decent #2 WR or Flex option most weeks. But not this week.

The 49ers go up against the Arizona Cardinals who have Mr. Patrick Peterson as one of their cornerbacks. Peterson may be the most skilled corner in the entire NFL (sorry Richard Sherman) and I see him sticking to Crabtree most of the game.

Crabtree has surprisingly done quite well against Peterson in the past and the two always put on an entertaining show, but I don’t think fantasy owners should take the risk in week 3.

QB Colin Kaepernick will look to Davis and Boldin and Gore maybe before Crabtree because he knows who is going to be following him around most of the game.

Owners should look elsewhere for points this week.

Consider him a low-end flex option, but don’t start a much lesser player over him.
