5) WR Mohamed Sanu, Cinncinati Bengals
Cinncinati has suffered a rash of WR injuries early this season. First, Marvin Jones suffered a foot injury in the preseason. Next, no. 1 receiver, and league superstar, A.J. Green also suffered a foot injury week 1. Green suited up week 2 for the Bengals’ 24-10 win over Atlanta, but left the game early with turf toe.
Green’s status for week 3 has yet to be determined, but he probably will not be full speed.
Enter Mohamed Sanu. The big (6’2″ 210lb) 3rd-year receiver stepped up in a big way against Atlanta, becoming Andy Dalton‘s no. 1 target with 3 catches for 84 yards and 1 TD. Sanu has some ability to get down the field and has stepped up while other players are injured.
While A.J. Green will remain the top dog in the Cinncinati receiving corps, Sanu might just be playing his way into the rotation ahead of Brandon Tate and purported no. 2 Marvin Jones.
There you have my week 2 targets to pick up from the bone pile. The only way you find these bargain guys that no one wanted when the season began is to keep looking for them early in the season. If you find one, it can be the difference between counting out your winnings, and sitting on the couch, at the end of the year..
