Start ‘Em #1
Darren Sproles has been overlooked by many coming into this NFL season in regards to fantasy football. This is mostly due to the fact that he is now the “backup” of one of the top running backs in the NFL LeSean McCoy. Let me tell you: he will have a better season than where people are projecting him.
In today’s NFL, RBs don’t necessarily have to get many carries to be successful in both NFL terms and fantasy football terms. In his last two seasons in New Orleans, Sproles only had 13% of the Saints carries (101/761), third most on the team.
Teammates Pierre Thomas and Mark Ingram both beat Sproles out in the carry department. This aside, he was still successful and arguably the best fantasy option in the Saints backfield.
This was due to his dual-threat ability. Sean Payton loved to use Sproles as a screen option, slot receiver, running back, and wherever else he could fit him into the offense. Well here is some news for all the critics out there: Darren Sproles is playing for Chip Kelly now!

Chip Kelly has one of the greatest offensive minds in the NFL and will be able to get Sproles the ball just as much, if not more than he got it in New Orleans, even with LeSean McCoy getting 80-90% of the teams carries.
All this being said, Sproles and the Eagles match up with the Jacksonville Jaguars in week one, which obviously gives him a good matchup. He could get into the endzone once or twice and I see the Eagles getting out to a large lead early which could ultimately mean some garbage time for Sproles that could give him a strong fantasy week in week one.
Consider him as a high-end flex play and a desperate #2 RB for week one.
