facebooktwitterreddit

College football is right around the corner and bowl game predictions are already taking place. Phil Steele predicts that the Kansas State Wildcats and the Missouri Tigers, two local teams to the Kansas City area, will be taking on each other in the Liberty Bowl on December 29th at 1:00 central time.

  • Now obviously it’s too early to say how well this prediction will stand, but don’t rule anything out. Kansas State and Missouri no longer are in the same conference since the Tigers moved to the SEC so this is a very possible match-up.

Kansas State went 7-4 last season and was victorious in the Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl over Michigan. Missouri had a good second year in the SEC and won the Cotton Bowl against Oklahoma State.

Both teams should have good years so this would be a very fun bowl game to watch. Let’s take a look at both teams’ schedules for the 2014 season. Okay? OKAY!

Not a super easy schedule for the Wildcats. The squad has tough games against last year’s SEC champ Auburn, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, and Baylor. Baylor and Oklahoma were ranked above Kansas State in the Big 12 preseason polls.

As for the Tigers, their schedule doesn’t look any easier.

This year’s schedule brings last year’s Fiesta Bowl champs Central Florida to Columbia as well as the Georgia Bulldogs. The Tigers will have tough road trips this year against the South Carolina Gamecocks, Florida Gators, and Texas A&M Aggies. Tennessee could also give Mizzou some trouble.

  • Keep in mind last year that the Gamecocks beat Missouri in Columbia last year. Also, the Tigers faced a Florida team who did not have their starting quarterback and therefore faltered throughout the 2013 season.

All right back to the bowl game, I personally would love to see this match-up. It would be an exciting game, but who knows how accurate these predictions will actually be?
