The Kansas City Chiefs kick off their pre-season tonight at Arrowhead against the Cincinnati Bengals. This is an exciting time for fans as Football is finally making it’s debut again. It’s also an exciting time for many young players who are fighting to make the roster.
Today, I wanted to focus on four players we should be keeping our eyes on in tonight’s first pre-season game. Not all of them are on the bubble of making the team, but the four I’ve chosen to focus on are all young guys, or first year players with the Chiefs.
First and foremost, like I mentioned yesterday in my Getting To Know The Enemy, there will be no game planning from either team. All three phases of the game (offense, defense, special teams) will be focused on their basic formations and plays. This doesn’t mean we won’t see blitz packages, or shots deep down the field from the quarterbacks, but rather it could make for a boring game to watch.
I anticipate the starters only getting two series at most, on both sides of the ball. This means ample playing time is available to these young players which is why I’ll be strapped in, ready to watch all four quarters of action.
So without further ado, here are the four players I’ll be focusing on most in tonight’s game.
