Fantasy Football Defenses: Top Ten You Should Target In 2014

While these are the ten teams I believe are the best right now, things can change.
The worst thing to happen to a defense is a big injury, which is impossible to plan for. Many teams are barely outside the top defenses but can certainly move up, like New Orleans, with players like safeties Kenny Vaccaro and Jairus Byrd, as well as the Buffalo Bills, lead by defensive tackles Marcell Dareus and Kyle Williams.

One aspect I didn’t talk about much was the Special Teams aspect, mainly because it’s so rare and hard to predict. However, if you see that a certain team has a returner that is cranking out kickoff or punt returns once a week, it may be worth it to pick that team up and get those six extra points.
But the most important part about defenses in fantasy football is to not lose hope because of a bad game or two. Teams will go through a rough streak, but that might not be entirely because of poor play.
Don’t drop the Chiefs defense just because they got lit up by Denver, because there’s a good chance they play someone like Oakland next week.
But the opposite is true as well. If your roommate is dumb enough to drop the 49ers defense because he doesn’t know NaVorro Bowman is still hurt, make him pay for that mistake.
Do you agree or disagree with any of my picks? Let me know in the comments what you think, and I’ll try to answer any questions you may have.
