Fantasy Football Defenses: Top Ten You Should Target In 2014

And the #1 defense is the Super Bowl Champion Seattle Seahawks. Seattle proved in the Super Bowl that the best defense usually beats the best offense, putting up one of the most lopsided Super Bowl scores in recent memory.
One of the problems with being a Super Bowl champion is that your players are often over-valued. Because of that, many players left in free agency for greener pastures (aka more cash), Some of those players include Red Bryant, Brandon Browner, Chris Clemons and Walter Thurmond.
Luckily for Seattle, they have the depth to overcome those free agent losses. Defensive ends Michael Bennett and Cliff Avril combined for 16.5 sacks and 10 forced fumbles last year, even though they didn’t start most games.
Defensive tackles Brandon Mebane and Tony McDaniel will be in charge of stopping the run, where Seattle was tied for first with Carolina in least amount of rushing touchdowns allowed.
Linebackers K.J. Wright, Bobby Wagner and Bruce Irvin are also quality starters with Pro Bowl potential. The three combined for 8.5 sacks and three interceptions, even though none of them played all 16 games. When they are all healthy and able to play every game, they are a force to be reckoned with.
But lastly, what makes this Seattle defense so great is “The Legion of Boom”, their secondary. Everyone has heard of Richard Sherman, but teammates Earl Thomas, Kam Chancellor, and Byron Maxwell help make the secondary the lifeblood of this Seattle team.
They combined for 20 interceptions, three forced fumbles, and a lot of smack talk. But you are allowed to talk like that when you can back it up like they do.
Every starter on Seattle’s defense is classified as “good starter” or better, according to Pro Football Focus. Simply put, that means that this defense has no weaknesses. What more could you ask for?
