1) SALVADOR PEREZ – CATCHER

If any one Royals player should be leading his position in voting, it is Salvador Perez. He leads all American League catchers in WAR at 2.7. It would be shocking if the league didn’t know it.

Considering he was selected last year, and his reputation has surely grown, he should be a lock for the squad in 2014. The fact that Perez isn’t even in the top 5 in votes for AL catchers is ludicrous.

If ever there was an argument to be made that most fans have no clue when it comes to voting for the All-Star Game, the fact that Matt Wieters leads in votes is proof enough.  Wieters has been injured for quite some time and is out for the year.

Salvador Perez has a WAR of 8.8, 4th best among all major leaguers  still playing catcher, and the best in the American League.

Such is the curse of playing for Kansas City. Perez is very close to being the best catcher in the game. Since the beginning of the 2012 season, Salvador Perez has a WAR of 8.8, 4th best among all major leaguers  still playing catcher, and the best in the American League.

If the Royals only get one All-Star, and because it is the Royals, that is a distinct possibility, Salvador Perez will be that player.

Mark it down now. Perez will be selected.
