Who?
Tyler Palko got thrown into the Chiefs’ starting quarterback position in 2011 when Matt Cassel was lost for the season with an injury. Palko started four games and was so bad that the team went after former Broncos quarterback Kyle Orton and brought him on (good thing they did).
Palko’s first start did not go well. He threw for over 200 yards, but was picked off three times in an embarrassing loss to the New England Patriots on Monday Night Football.
The next week, the Chiefs played on Sunday Night Football against the Steelers and actually didn’t look half bad. Palko blew it though when the team rallied in the last few seconds and he threw an interception.
It wasn’t all bad with Tyler Palko though (really, I mean it). He managed to lead the Chiefs to victory against the Chicago Bears and even had an incredible Hail Mary pass to Dexter McCluster in the closing seconds of the first half.
That’s about where the good ends for Palko. He played in one more game and lost. The Chiefs signed Kyle Orton and things were better in Kansas City for the most part. Well, until 2012 that is.
