NUMBER 1: Shannon Sharpe – Broncos

You wanna talk about annoying, not just to the Chiefs, but to the entire football landscape.

While there is no denying his talent, his mouth belongs somewhere in the Hall of Fame as well. The game that everyone remembers most, was the Chiefs vs. Broncos at Arrowhead in 1998. The game has since been titled, “The Monday Night Meltdown” after Derrick Thomas lost his cool 5 times on the final drive of the game.

As the story goes, Sharpe and Thomas had known each other for a long time and Sharpe had somehow gotten Thomas’s girlfriends phone number before the game. So, Sharpe being the talker he is, would recite the phone number to Thomas from across the line of scrimmage before every snap. It drove Thomas to try and physically harm Sharpe by twisting at his legs twice.

Thomas was ejected from the game eventually and suspended the next week. This moment alone would engrave Sharpe in Chiefs fans minds, though this was later in his career.

Sharpe also took a jab at Tony Gonzalez, after he broke the all time receiving touchdowns record for a tight end. When Sharpe was asked about Tony and the record he said, “Call me when you win a playoff game.”

Classy Shannon, real classy.

What’s funny is, Sharpe was recently slid over by Gonzalez once again, this time on the television set of CBS Sunday Morning show. Thank god, as you could barely understand the guy when he was doing highlights.

Sharpe was very, VERY, annoying throughout his entire career and he makes my countdown at number one.
