Number 3: Neil Smith
Smith was drafted by the Chiefs number 2 overall in the 1988 NFL draft. It’s safe to say that he panned out.
The 1993 season proved to be his best, as he led the league in sacks (15) and had earned his third straight trip to the Pro-Bowl. Smith made a total of 6 Pro-Bowls in his career and established himself as one of the most dominant defensive lineman of his era.
Smith finished his 13 NFL seasons with 105 sacks, 30 forced fumbles, 12 fumble recoveries, 19 return yards, and 1 touchdown. He also intercepted 4 passes, returning them for 68 yards and a touchdown. (source profootballreference.com)
Th0ugh he did move on to the dreadful Denver Broncos, Smith’s contributions to this team through the 90’s was something special.
