Number 5 Best Running Back in Chiefs History: Ed Podolak

Stats With The Chiefs:

  • 104 Games Played
  • 1,157 Attempts
  • 6,907 Yards From Scrimmage
  • 40 Total Touchdowns

Ed Podolak first joined the Chiefs in 1969, the same season they won the Super Bowl. However, Podolak wasn’t a key contributor until the following season where he would set his career mark for rushing yards in a season (749).

Another key to Podolak’s success was his ability to return punts and kicks. Though he never scored a  touchdown on special teams, his career average of 20.5 yards per return ranks near the top in team history.

He was very elusive and one of the more intriguing running backs of the 1970’s. Podolak finished fourth all time in rushing yards in team history (4,451) and spent eight season’s in Kansas City. He deserved to be on this list, so he comes in at number 5.
