I asked about where De’Anthony Thomas would take reps, and, what UDFA rookies would shine on day one. Starting with DAT,

Thomas is the most intriguing player of this draft class as his abilities to make plays are damn near limitless.

The problem is that DAT has had to stay in Oregon due to the fact that school is still in session. Andy Reid has to get this kid caught up as quickly as possible, while also trying to make sure he doesn’t fall behind.

The Chiefs won’t have him back until the mandatory mini-camp in the middle of June.

Where Thomas will likely do most of his damage his rookie year will be on special teams. Thomas holds Oregon career records for kickoff return yards (1,885) and punt return average (17.1) so he knows how to field a kick or two.

No reports of Thomas fielding kicks, but it wont be surprising to hear about it over the next two days.

Side note: Thomas chose the jersey number, 1, which hasn’t been worn by another player since 2006 (Lawrence Tynes). Warren Moon wore it previously to that.
