The Chiefs’ supposedly vaunted 2013 defense was further exposed and completely embarrassed by the Indianapolis Colts giving up a 38-10 lead while already in the third quarter.

There is no point in getting into the staggering numbers Andrew Luck and the rest of the Colts offense were able to generate, but it’s suffice to say they were mind-blowing.
In the end, the defense had just completed the second greatest collapse in NFL playoffs history. After getting depansed in front of a nationally televised audience, the defense needed a fix.
It became apparent in Alex Smith, Dwayne Bowe, and Jamaal Charles that Andy Reid had sufficient fire power, but their lack of a consistent pass rush exposed their secondary. This allowed opposing teams to know exactly how to beat Bob Sutton‘s 1 Gap 3-4 defense.
