CORNER BACKS
- Emmitt Thomas
- Albert Lewis
THOMAS:
- 181 games
- 58 interceptions
- 5 touchdowns
Thomas went on to intercept 58 passes in his career, a number that still stands as the most by any player in Chiefs history. He recorded an interception in the Super Bowl, in route to a 23-7 victory over the Minnesota Vikings.
Emmitt Thomas retired after 13 seasons and was inducted into the Hall Of Fame in 2008. He is one of the greatest Chiefs of all time and one of the true shutdown corners of the 1960′s. Thomas is still with Kansas City as the defensive backs coach for Andy Reids staff.
LEWIS:
- 150 games
- 38 interceptions
- 1 touchdown
Lewis was an all-around player with KC as he had 38 career pick-offs and also blocked 11 kicks on special teams for the Chiefs. He also gained a reputation for being one of the most physical corners of his era. Matter of fact, Jerry Rice was once quoted saying that Lewis was the toughest corner he ever had to face.
Lewis went on to play with the Raiders, but we’ll forget about that. Again, I’ll hear arguments on Dale Carter or Brandon Flowers but it’ll be tough.
