Denver is fresh off of a butt whoopin’ in the Super Bowl and is starving to build a defense strong enough to get Peyton Manning his second ring. John Elway went out and spent big on key free agents and we’ll just have to see how it all works out.
The Broncos signed Aquib Talib but, still felt the need to address the corner back position in round one with Bradley Roby. He’s a 3 year standout from Ohio State who started in all 37 games he appeared in. The kid brings experience and speed to the position for Denver.
The pick that really tugs at me is Indiana receiver, Cody Latimer, who Denver selected in the 2nd round, which just so happened to be the pick that would have been the Chiefs but they traded away for Alex Smith. The Broncos moved up in the 2nd round by swapping picks with the 49’ers to grab Latimer.
Again, I hope this pick is a complete failure.. Do I sound bitter?
Outside of those first two picks, I don’t see much to be excited about. Lamin Barrow of LSU could be a great pick but, he played inconsistently for the Tigers throughout his college career.
Denver is banking more on their free agent signings in hopes of getting back to the Super Bowl. Unfortunately, until Manning is gone, the Broncos are the class of the division.
