NUMBER 2: Emmitt Thomas

Emmitt Thomas began his Hall Of Fame career as an undrafted free agent out of Bishop College in Dallas. Kansas City gave him his first opportunity and he never looked back.

Wearing the ever so memorable number of 18, Thomas went on to intercept 58 passes, a number that still stands as the most by any player in team history. Thomas set a team record in 1974, when he picked off an astonishing 12 passes for the year. He was also an integral part of the Chiefs winning the Super Bowl in 1969, when he lead the league in interceptions with 9 that season.

Thomas recorded an interception in the Super Bowl,  in route to a 23-7 victory over the Minnesota Vikings.

Emmitt Thomas retired after 13 seasons and was inducted into the Hall Of Fame in 2008. He is one of the greatest Chiefs of all time and one of the true shutdown corners of the 1960’s. Thomas is still with Kansas City as the defensive backs coach for Andy Reids staff.  He definitely deserves to be number two on this list.
