Round 5: Kenny Ladler, Safety, Vanderbilt

Kenny Ladler is a football player that isn’t afraid to hit someone and make a play. He is coming off a great season last year with Vandy, having earned a first team All-SEC honor by the Associated Press after having a hand in 10 turnovers, five interceptions and five forced fumbles.

The 6’0, 200 pound safety is projected to go somewhere in the fourth or fifth round, making him a top prospect for the Chiefs to keep their eye on. Kansas City clearly recognizes they need some depth in the deep secondary, as they had a scheduled visit with Danieal Manning but never got it because of his signing with the Bengals.

Ladler was available to me in all three simulations and I took him all three times. He has potential to be an immediate starter in the NFL, and that’s sometimes hard to find in rounds 4 through 7. Ladler can make plays and force turnovers from the safety position, something the Chiefs need desperately opposite Eric Berry.

Ladler was the best player available at that point in all three simulations I did, making him my fourth round selection.
