Number 3: Jonathan Baldwin
Draft Pick: 1st round, Number 26 overall, 2011 NFL Draft
Ah yes, I bet you were wondering when Baldwin was going to make this list. Jonathan Baldwin was drafted by the Chiefs to play opposite Dwayne Bowe, who was coming off a career year in 201o.
He was also going to be coached up by Todd Haley, the receiver guru who helped shape Larry Fitzgerald‘s career and turned Dwayne Bowe around. It all seemed to be the perfect storm! Baldwin was the missing piece!
Instead, was unfolded was nothing more than a broken wrist from fighting his own teammate, and muscle machine, Thomas Jones. First of all, why in the hell are you picking fights with the buffest dude, and one of the most respected members of the league? We should’ve known it was doomed from there.
Baldwin didn’t do squat in Kansas City, except collect a decent paycheck and drop the ball. He was a training camp hero that churned out amazing plays that didn’t transpire to games.
Kanas City has moved on, trading him last pre-season to the San Francisco 49’ers in exchange for their version of Jon Baldwin, A.J. Jenkins. When we reflect back even further from now, Baldwin might have a strong argument for number one.
