Number 5 Best Chiefs Quarterback of All-Time: Bill Kenney
With Chiefs: 1980-1988
STATS:
- 17,277 Yards
- 105 Touchdowns
- 86 Interceptions
- 77.0 Passer Rating
Bill Kenney played for the Chiefs during a very dreadful time in team history, the 80’s. Kenney was drafted in the 12th round- can you believe they used to go that deep with the draft?- in 1978 by the Miami Dolphins. He was immediately cut, and Kansas City signed him for virtually nothing, despite just drafting Todd Blackledge in 1983.
He would lead a dreadful roster for the Chiefs for 9 season’s and until 2004, Kenney held the Chiefs record for most passing yards in a single season (4,348).
Though he did put up pretty good numbers statistically, it didn’t carry over into wins. With Kenney under center, the Chiefs went 34-43 along with his only play off appearance against the New York Jets where the Chiefs got killed 35-15.
Kenney wasn’t necessarily a great player and he isn’t remembered much when discussing quarterbacks of the 80’s, but he did leave his mark in Kansas City, making him number 5 on my list.
