Scenario B – Chiefs keep OLB Tamba Hali, sign WR Jeremy Maclin, and draft Safety Ha’Sean Clinton Dix..

With scenario B you decide the Chiefs trust Tamba Hali to keep producing at a high level despite being on the wrong side of 30. Not releasing Hali would mean the Chiefs would have to cover his 2014 cap hit of $11,464,706 unless they were to restructure his contract.

That would mean you can likely only afford WR Jeremy Maclin as Safety Jarius Byrd is going to come with too big of a price tag for the Chiefs to compete in a bidding war. As mentioned above Maclin comes with a risk as he is coming of an ACL injury but he does have a history of success in Andy Reid’s offense.

Wide Receiver is also one of the deepest positions in the draft and the Chiefs could have success finding a suitable #3 receiver in the 3rd or 4th round.

Safety Ha’Sean Clinton Dix would be handed the reigns as the starting FS for the Chiefs if he is still available in the draft. The Chiefs will be trusting a rookie safety to be the last line of defense that Kendrick Lewis struggled with much of last season.

Do you think it is time to cut ties with Tamba Hali or do you think that he can still produce at a high level and is worth his contract? Which scenario do you choose?

The Chiefs will be making moves this off-season and there are so many possibilities. All we can do is speculate for now as none of us know for certain what is going on inside John Dorseys‘ head. With the combine starting February 22nd we should get a better idea with how Dorsey and company plan on approaching this off-season and which players are going to rise and fall on the draft board.

If you have your own scenario feel free to comment and let me know what you would do. Maybe one of us can correctly predict the moves the Chiefs will make this off-season.
