4. Someone breaks the Royals’ single-season HR Record.

Oh boy, wouldn’t it be great if someone finally trounced this dreadful “record”, or what! Steve Balboni holds the single-season home run record for the Royals franchise. A record that has held since he set it in 1985. So what is the record, you ask? A measly THIRTY-SIX long-bombs.

The Royals are the only franchise who has yet to have someone break the 40 home run mark. Quite frankly, this is embarrassing. Hitting home runs has always been the Royals’ struggle area- especially in the past decade.

Kansas City certainly needs to hit more home runs than last year if they want to make prediction #1 come true in 2014. At least half of the Royals lineup is capable of having an outburst in power this season and breaking that record. Being “capable” and actually doing is a totally different story. If it were to happen, my guess is it would be Billy Butler or Eric Hosmer. It is very unlikely that Kansas City fans see a power surge, but if they do, they might see a Royals’ record-breaking season.
