After the best season since 1989, Kansas City Royals’ fans are buzzing with anticipation for Opening Day 2014 to roll around. Let’s have some fun! Here are 5 bold predictions to tide you over for the next two-plus months.

1. Royals win the AL Central.

This is the easiest bold prediction to make on this list, although that doesn’t mean it is any more likely to happen over any of the others on this list. After Dayton Moore gave fans of Kansas City a solid off-season, and a reason to keep buzzing about next year, it is very easy to see the Royals finishing better than last year’s record (86-76).

It is also easy to see them finishing worse. With the key additions of Omar Infante, Norichika Aoki, and Jason Vargas, it is pretty evident that the Royals front office set out and address some of their off-season needs. With the Tigers and Indians both seemingly moving in the wrong direction this off-season, it could possibly clear a path for the Royals to surprise some people in the Central.

We will see if the moves Dayton Moore made prove to be enough or the absence of Ervin Santana ends up haunting the 2014 Royals.
