NUMBER 8: TIGHT END, SEAN MCGRATH

Nicknamed, “Duck Dynasty,” because of his amazing beard, Sean McGrath quickly became a house hold name in Kansas City. McGrath is one of the seven guys that John Dorsey claimed off waivers this past off season, and he stepped up big for the Chiefs when the injuries started to stack up for them at the tight end position. After cutting Tony Moeaki during training camp, and having to put rookie, Travis Kelce on injured reserve, many began to worry about where the position was headed for the Chiefs.

Then, full time starter, Anthony Fasano, battled ankle injuries and concussions, leaving the Chiefs to turn to a waiver claim tight end that looked like he had an animal in his helmet with him. But man can this guy play some football! McGrath was thrown into the fold, having to start 9 games this season and quickly became a favorite target for Alex Smith, especially on third down.

McGrath came up with 26 receptions for 302 yards and two touchdowns. His numbers weren’t stellar but he always came up with big catches when the team needed them, and, he wasn’t afraid to mix it up in the run game. Plus, he had a great touchdown celebration in Oakland when he acted like he couldn’t release the ball for a spike because his hand was too sticky. Sean McGrath will be a name remembered around KC for a long time- even if this was his only season with the Chiefs. “Duck Dynasty” makes the list at number 8.
