OTHER GAME NOTES:
FIRST DOWNS: Kansas City 22, San Diego 19
TIME OF POSSESSION: Kansas City 34:36, San Diego 37:08
THIRD DOWN EFFICIENCY: Kansas City 6-14, 42.9%, San Diego 9-17, 52.9%
TURNOVERS: Kansas City 0, San Diego 1
PENALTIES: Kansas City 1-5, San Diego 4-22
TOTAL YARDS: Kansas City 332, San Diego 405
Considering that most of the minutes were played by bench players, Andy Reid has to be pleased at how clean the Chiefs played – no turnovers, and one 5-yard penalty. That is pretty darn good. The defense had a little trouble getting the Chargers off the field on third down but that, and total yards, are the only areas in which San Diego out played the Kansas City back ups. And, of course, the scoreboard.
The Chiefs had an opportunity to win this game, and considering the circumstances in which the contest was played, the guys that did play worked their rear ends off, and made this a fun game to watch.
OVERALL GAME GRADE: B
UP NEXT
The Chiefs will travel to Indianapolis for a rematch of last weekend’s debacle. Hopefully, Kansas City will play better this time around.
