RUNNING GAME: The Chiefs, behind second string rookie running back Knile Davis, racked up 143 yards on 37 carries on the day. This high number is a bit misleading because it included 59 yards from Chase Daniel on seven scrambles. Still, Davis ran hard and did not fumble the ball.

He was much more successful in the first half when he rattled off runs of 12, 17, and 18 yards. On a day when he had 81 yards on 27 carries, these 3 carries represented more than half of his yards (47).  In the 4th quarter, Davis had 7 carries for 3 yards, as the offensive line struggled to open up any holes late in the game.

GRADE: B

PASSING GAME: Chase Daniel did his best Alex Smith impression, going 21-30 for 200 yards with a touchdown and no interceptions on the day. He directed the Chiefs offense with confidence, and completed some nice passes on the day, including a 48-yarder to A.J. Jenkins in the first quarter. Daniel’s touchdown pass to Dexter McCluster in the first half was his career first scoring throw.

The back up offensive line did very well in pass protection, only allowing 2 sacks. Daniel’s ability to avoid pressure in the pocket also was a big plus of the offense.

GRADE: B

Except for the absence of an explosive big time weapon, the offense didn’t look that much different with the reserves in than it usually does with the starters. Jenkins played well, grabbing 5 balls for 67 yards, including the long one from Daniel. Not having the constant threat of Jamaal Charles, and the threat of him taking it to the house on any given touch,  was about the only difference

The Chiefs committed no turnovers.
