JUNE

New hope suddenly surrounded the Royals as the team and their fans welcomed the addition of team legend and Hall-of-Famer Brett to the dugout. The effect wasn’t immediate as the Royals lost 3 of the first 5 in which Brett was in uniform.

After a loss on June 5th, the Royals were 23-32, 9 games under .500 and had a putrid 6-22 record over the previous 28 games. The season didn’t look bright.

Yet somehow, Kansas City managed to turn things around a bit. They suddenly ripped off 6 straight wins, and 9 out of ten. In less than two weeks, they went from 9 games under .500 to just 1 game under. The season wasn’t a total loss after all.

Kansas City went 6-8 to finish off the month 3 games under .500, with a June record of 16-11.
