KANSAS JAYHAWKS

It was another rough season for Jayhawk football but there was a small hint of improvement. Head Coach Charlie Weis must get better football players on the roster, and he must coach up every one hard if he hopes to ever win more than a few football games.

It is much more positive, as usual, on the hardwood. Kansas went through about a five game slump when they played pretty awful at times. After the last two outings, they have seemed to improve, and we hope that isn’t a mirage.

Kansas has a magnificently talented roster but they are very young. How will they fair in a very improved Big 12 Conference? In the AP poll, three teams currently rank ahead of Kansas – Oklahoma State (7th, 11-1), Baylor (11th, 10-1), and Iowa State (14th, 10-0).

It will not be an easy walk through the schedule for the extremely young Jayhawks to earn their 10th straight conference championship. If they win this one, with the lack of experience this team has, it will be a miracle.

Of course, I have along list of wishes for the Jayhawks. First, I wish Charlie Weis can turn things around and get Kansas bowl eligible in 2014. I know that is a lot to ask but this is a wish list after all.

I wish for the young Kansas basketball team to mature enough to march through the gauntlet that will be the Big 12 schedule this season, and come out the other side champions.

I hope that wunderkind freshman Andrew Wiggins realizes and displays some of his potential before he moves on after the season. He arrived with so much hype, I warned readers to temper their expectations. He has not performed with much fire in his eyes yet, but we have seen some occasional glimpses of what he might one day become. I wish to see some of that while he still wears a Kansas uniform.

I wish that Joel Embiid will decide he needs some more seasoning, and stays at Kansas for another year.

I wish this young basketball team comes together, and reaches its potential enough to make it to the Final Four, and to bring home another National Championship.

Is this to much too wish for?
