WICHITA STATE SHOCKERS

We don’t cover the Shockers as consistently as we do other schools but that they do have a passionate fan following. Wichita State was my second favorite team as a kid, as players like Antoine Carr, Cliff Livingston, and Xavier McDaniel dominated local headlines.

Last season, the Shockers were the Cinderella story of the NCAA Tournament, knocking off big time programs like Pittsburgh, Gonzaga, and Ohio State on the their way to the school’s second Final Four ever.

This season, the Shockers are proving it was no fluke. Wichita State has started off 12-0 this season with a top 10 ranking. They are a tough, hard nosed opponent no one really wants to schedule, including Kansas and Kansas State. They could easily finish the season with just 2 0r 3 losses, if even that many.

My wish for the Wichita State Shockers is for them to make another deep run in the NCAA Tournament. I would like to see them establish themselves as a mid major with the clout of a BCS school, like Gonzaga and Butler have over the past several years. It will help them become a team other schools want to play because they are considered a basketball power, and it will bring even more prestige the state of Kansas for its college basketball teams.
