6. Texas Tech Red Raiders

Record: 7-5 (4-5)

Previous Ranking: 6

Last Week: Texas 41, Texas Tech 16

BOWL GAME TO BE DETERMINED

The 0-5 finish to the season is tough, but Texas Tech outplayed everyone’s expectations. Kliff Kingsbury brought back an identity to Texas Tech they had been missing since Mike Leach left, and he did it with players that are not built for his system. Imagine where this team would be if they received more efficient play at quarterback – read: less turnovers – and added some playmakers to their secondary?

Tech ranks fifth in the Big 12 in recruiting so far with a few more scholarships available to hand out. They don’t have a lot of marquee signings but they’ve added the ninth ranked running back in the class and 12th ranked quarterback. And Kingsbury appears to already be very aggressive in trying to add talent for 2015.

Tech is very much on the rise.
